HID or “high intensity discharge” lighting systems produce up to 3x more light than traditional halogen systems. HID systems use gas (mainly xenon) to produces light. This gas reaction creates less heat and lasts up 5x longer than standard halogen lights that use a filament, which can overheat and break.
